Firefox 3 is released! Happy day, looking forward to getting in on some of the new features. If you haven’t already tricked out your version of the Firefox, it is pretty easy to do. Try this, type about:config into your browser window, you’ll see a long list of parameters that can be tweaked manually.
- Double click on ‘network.http.pipelining’ and set the value to true.
- Double click on network.http.pipelining.maxrequests’ and in the dialog box enter a higher value than the default value 4. 15 is an ideal value.
- Double click on ‘network.http.proxy.pipelining’ and set the value to true.
- Right click on the page and select New->Integer. Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay and then click ok. Set the integer value of this to 0 and click ok.Now Firefox is optimized for broadband

So there you have it, you will see and feel a noticeable difference in the speed in which pages load, links access and images load – assuming you are not on dial-up, hehe. I use Firefox on macs and pcs running XP, Vista and Ubuntu 8. I find that the only thing I use IE7 for is pulling down Windows updates.
I have been doing a lot of work with reporting these days – it’s so easy to get caught up in the details and get frustrated. Once you get it right though, it’ nice to have in hand for management. It’ just getting there that can make you crazy, I was thinking about this while reading a funny and not so funny story about runaway projects.
Surely it couldn’t get any worse than that.
Oh wait it did, the Lakers were drawn and quartered in Boston, le weep…
